4th ANNUAL DOGGIE PROM!

On Wednesday, May 2, 2012, Morris Animal Inn will be celebrating it's fourth annual doggie prom event! While no limos, date swapping, or drama will be involved, big hair, cute outfits and lots of dancing are encouraged! Dapper dogs - with or without dates - are all invited to our retro, 50's themed prom, "Bark Around the Clock!"  So put a quarter into the jukebox and get ready to jive!

Last year we went pink, this year, we are delving into the past, back to a world of doo wop, early rock and roll, saddle shoes and drive-in movie theaters! Sign your pooch up for our prom party and witness the inn transformed for this special doggie event! For your dog, highlights of the day will include:

-Music and dancing to some of the greatest rock and roll hits
-Prom photos at the American Barkstand
-"Ain't Nothing but a Hound Dog" dash
-Barking and rolling on the pooch playground
-"Splish splash" dunks in our indoor aqua center

As per tradition, we are teaming up with a charity organization and this year we are happy to partner with SAGE Community Outreach, located in Summit NJ. SAGE is concerned with the health, happiness, and general well-being of older citizens and their families. SAGE operates New Jersey's oldest Meals on Wheels program and Adult Day Care Service. The SAGE Resale Shop supports their efforts by providing funds for SAGE's programs and services. We are collecting gently used prom attire and accessories to be sold at the SAGE Resale shop at a lower cost for those less fortunate. Any dog and family who donates formal wear will receive a $25 gift certificate for lodging, grooming or daycare at Morris Animal Inn. We will be accepting donations until May 2. A special thank you goes out to all of those who have already donated prom attire and/or accessories!

THE HOWLIDAYS ARE HERE!!

We know what you're thinking. The turkey has yet to be bought for Thanksgiving and for some of us the Halloween decorations still need to be put away. This period of time before Thanksgiving and Christmas is the calm before the storm. So while your weekends are not yet packed with holiday shopping, tree trimmings and parties galore, stop by Morris Animal Inn for our annual Holiday Pet Photo Shoot on Saturday, November 19, 2011! There are sitting times available from 12:00PM-2:00PM. The sitting fee is $10 and includes one 5x7 photo. Additional photos will be available for purchase from our professional photographer's website after Sunday, December 6. The $10 sitting fee and 10% of all purchases from our holiday boutique will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey. Call 973-537-0377 to reserve a time.

This year, personalize your holiday cards with an irresistibly cute photo of your cat, dog, or even the whole family!  Here are some holiday photo samples from previous years!

NEED SOMETHING TO DO THIS WEEKEND?!

Don't spend this Sunday indoors twiddling your thumbs and watching another re-runs on TV! We have a much more exciting idea! Come to our sister company's fall festival: Tips, Tricks and Tails this Sunday, October 23 from 12PM - 4PM.

Morris K9 Campus is pulling out the pumpkins and the cider and celebrating fall in style! Both indoor and outdoor, the event will happen rain or shine. Enjoy fun activities like interactive agility, flying disc demonstrations, an "Ask the Trainer" Q and A session, doggie dancing demos, and Canine Good Citizen testing.

Fido is more than welcome! Small dog and large dog play groups will be set up in the daycare room so you can watch how your dog plays and interacts with other furry friends. If you want your dog to benefit from more exercise, try the Canine Treadmill for a quick and easy fitness session. If your dog enjoys prancing around in outfits, make sure to dress Fido up in costume so he or she can participate in the Wags to Witches K9 Costume Parade scheduled for 2:30PM. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes in various categories like best owner and pet ensemble so bring your get-up as well! However, all costume parade participants will be awarded a colorful bandana for their dog!

Fun features like face painting, a photo station, the Morris Animal Inn Boutique, and food, including hot dogs and Rita's Italian Ice with Mango, Cherry, and Pumpkin flavors, will round out the day! Local animal shelters, Noah's Ark, Eleventh Hour Rescue and The Randolph Animal Pound will be present with adoptable cats and dogs. Though the event is FREE, guests are encouraged to bring a can of unopened dog or cat food as a donation for the shelters.

If you haven't already received a special key from Morris K9 Campus to bring on the day of the event, go to the Morris K9 Campus facility to pick one up. If your key unlocks the "Haunted Treasure Chest," you can win one of three prizes:
-Grand Prize: Pampering You and Your Pet Package

Autumnal Events for the Dog Lover

Autumn officially begins this Friday the 23rd. We have already felt its upcoming arrival with temperatures this week and last week dipping into the low 50s. But we truly know fall is upon us when the flannel sheets are taken out to keep us warm at night, pumpkin lattes become the beverage of choice, and leaves and acorns crunch under our feet. Though fall can turn the landscape into a scenic painting, the colder weather can cause some of us to begin our hibernation early, holing up in our warm houses with mugs of apple cider. There’s nothing wrong with that, it happens to be one of the best features of fall. But what about Fido? How can you keep the carefree nature of summer that your pets enjoyed so much going into the cooler months? Not a problem! There are a slew of fall-themed dog events happening this season and we’ve got the low-down!

Puptoberfest
Fall wouldn’t be the same without this popular canine event! Now in its seventh year, this Eleventh Hour Rescue event has become an autumnal staple of the season. Originally created as a reunion for the shelter’s adopters, it has grown into something much more! This year’s fest will include fun activities, food, music, entertainment, and of course dogs, dogs and more dogs! Additionally, Puptoberfest will feature a bevy of animal friendly vendors including our sister company Morris K9 Campus! Stop by and say hi!
